2.5 weeks in Thailand not long before Covid put a halt on flights and traveling. I had been to Thailand before and had done all the usual sights and places, so this trip would be just about Thai food and chilling on the islands.
Koh Lanta
About a week on Koh Lanta. Beach, massage, beach, cats & cooking classes
Koh Lipe
The last Thai island before you cross into Malaysia. Thanks to its turquoise waters it’s known as the Maldives of Thailand and, as a result, it’s a lot more popular than its relatively remote (for Thai islands) location would suggest. The island is also pretty tiny, so it feels quite overrun with tourists, unlike Koh Lanta. On the other hand, pretty much everything is a max 15-min walk away.
The snorkeling and diving on the coral reefs surrounding Koh Lipe and the neighbouring few islands is really good, but the water is also full of tiny, stinging jellyfish. You feel them, but you can’t really see them. They’re not really painful and don’t leave a mark, but you need to put up with a couple of little stings every minute while in the water.
